The Waverley

College Road, Windermere

One of the original Windermere Hotels, the Waverley is brimming with character. We offer; a warm Lakeland welcome, hearty meals prepared daily, cooked and served by the proprietors Alison and Ron Walker, and outstanding levels of service and accommodation.
A beautiful stone building dating back to 1870, the Waverley has an exceptional location on a quiet side street and you couldn't select a better place to enjoy the whole of the Lake District, whether you explore by car, train, bus, or on foot. We are 5 minutes from 2 bus stations and the rail station and Lake Windemere is just a 15 minute leisurely walk.
All rooms are comfortable, en-suite some with bath tub, tv and tea and coffee tray in room, out side we have a large private car park. Free broad band conection is avalable in public area and wi/fi in some rooms.These are only some of many reasons why guests return time and time again, meeting old friends and renewing their love of the breathtaking scenery in this idyllic corner of the lakes.

The Waverley Hotel Windermere is situated in the heart of the Lake District and is easily reached from the M6 motorway. From Exit 36 follow the signs for Kendal/Windermere (A591). On approaching Windermere take the second left (Elleray Road) and then first right into College Road. We are 200 yards on the right. from the Rail and Bus Station which is three minutes walk from the Waverley. As you exit the station turn left onto High Street and follow the right fork. Cross straight over the next intersection into College Road. We are 200 yards on the right.

Hotel was lovely and in a very good location for Windermere Centre! Breakfast was fab... Only problem was with the shower, either broken or not user friendly as the water was not for gettting warm! Otherwise great place!

Friendly welcome on arrivel, helped with local directions, would adive all to stay, i will be on next visit to the lake district

Whilst the hotel is very well located in South Kensington, near to tubes, cafes and museums the standard of the room was very poor. I was in a very small single room in the basement, with shabby decoration, no outlook and a leaking shower. Whilst the entrance to the hotel is very pleasant and the staff were friendly anf helpful, further refurbishment is needed before I would consider staying here again!

Excellent location just behind the main street and great that there was parking. The breakfast was very good particularly impressed as I am vegetarian so it was nice to be able to have my diet catered for within the hot breakfast selections. The single room was very small and I would not recommend booking this size room. Overall though enjoyable stay.

Nothing too much trouble. Well located with useful car park. Would go back in future.
