Was worried upon arrival becuse the inn is a popular pub. Luckily it was Sunday night and the band stopped at 10:45, the bar closed at 11;00 and the customers all left by 11:30. After that it was very quiet. Ancient church next door is very interesting. Restaurant food was excellent, British. Table on back patio was available to get away fom the loud light jazz band. Historic inn and rooms are charming. Staff all helpful.

Hotel was difficult to find and available parking was full, but parked up down the road and walked a few minutes to the hotel. Moved car later on and parking fine. Room was supposed to be a luxury room (room 1) but was disappointed, as it was for business it was acceptable. Slept very well although the room let in noise from the bar initially and could have kept a light sleeper awake. I would stay here again as I did like the atmosphere and the breakfast was fantastic. Would expect rooms to be decorated and bathroom refitted to be luxury. DVD player and freeview in room useful. Shower was difficult to use without getting water everywhere due to positioning and effectiveness of shower head holder. Was too expensive at for condition of room (£125).

I was led to believe I had an ensuite room which i didn't.
The room was on a slope and there was no hot water in the sink in the room.
The room was quite noisy as it was directly above the pub.

A lovely little hotel slightly off the beaten track. When I arrived, I was pleased with the little beer garden and how picturesque the pub was from the outside. The reception was unmanned, but soon a young girl met me and found the ket to my room. I had previously read reviews about The Bull Inn, and most commented on the lovely modern, newly done out bathrooms - not our room.. Named "Harris" (room number 3 if you want to avoid it) our room was the only one without an ensuite. The "bathroom" was down the corridor - although it wasn't a bathroom, it was a nasty poky little broomcupboard with an old dirty shower cubicle, toilet and no sink. "Who are we sharing this with?" I enquired, holding my breath. "2 members of staff" she replied chirpily - "use this key" she shook our room key key ring, "to open this door. The other is your room key" Great.
Our room certainly was even more "quaint" than just not possessing an ensuite... It was sloped (head down feet up on the bed), and enforced an unwanted game of hide and seek for the light switches. It was located above the outside drinking area, was hot, a little smelly (musky damp sort of smell) and had a very annoying pair of leaking taps on the sink (yes, to wash our hands after treking to and from our bathroom down the hall...). Never-the-less, when my husband arrived and I showed him all the quirky bits, he just laughed and we headed to the bar. After a couple of pints to dull the senses - I would need it to sleep - we ventured in to eat. To cut to the chase, the food was lovely - really well cooked (I had crab cakes, my husband had pork roquefort), with a lovely selection of vegetables - not over done, fresh not frozen - and the green beans had a delicious cheese sauce on them. The following day we had bar snacks, which we were equally as pleased with.
So, moral of the story - don't spend time in your room, and you can avoid the whole "Fawlty Towers" feel of the B&B part - but I would highly recomment the pub and its food - simple yet well thought out. Failing that - the other 4 rooms have ensuites, just avoid Harris!!
The cooked breakfast was great too...
We paid £75 per night for our room, which I thought was a bit much because of the sink taps and bathroom situation - otherwise, a lovely little "quirky" place...!

The room was very small and hot. Restaurant food seemed very expensive although unable to comment on quality as ate out. Breakfast was ok but service slow. Parking is a problem.
