Villa Elkaza

The hotel is very close to the city centre of Fira, and easily accessible by walking. Car parking can be a bit tricky. Liberty, one of the staff, took very good care of us, and was able to give us much good advice about sight seeing and directions, etc. Conveniently, you can also hire a car, and book excursions through the hotel office, and would definitely recommend doing this as you can often get better rates than doing it independently. We were also able to enjoy a pick up from the ferry to take us to the hotel, which made it easier than trying to round up a taxi upon arrival, as the ferry port is not that closely located to the city center. We had a beautiful view of the sea on the east side of the Island and were able to be self sufficient in this apartment style room. The hot water didn't last long enough for both of us to have a shower one after one another and was a bit disappointing. Note, this has the traditional island style shower, which is completely open, in the 'wet room style' with no curtain or surround. The breakfast consisted of slices of bread (to be toasted) and jam/butter, some lovely slices of cake and orange juice, coffee and tea, all left in your room, ready for an early or late start the next day. The rooms have a small kitchenette, with hot plates, dishes, cutlery, coffee maker, toaster and fridge, great if you want to prepare a lunch for being on the go. In the fridge, there was conveniently stocked for when we arrived, bottled water and soft drinks. A nice cosy place to stay!
