The Tantons Hotel lies at the heart of historic Bideford adjacent to the town centre and opposite the ancient bridge that crosses the river Torridge, whilst Bideford itself is geographically situated at the heart of North Devon.
The entire hotel has recently been tastefully refurbished, gaining the distinction of three stars from the English Tourism Council.
Tantons Hotel has 51 bedrooms each with their own private bathroom, have remote controlled television, direct-dial telephone, radio/alarm clock, hair drier and facilities for making hot drinks. Bedrooms are light and airy with modern décor and bedware single, double or twin rooms are available.

Turn right onto the B3184, at roundabout take 2nd exit, cross bridge. At roundabout take the 2nd exit, then merge onto the A30 (signposted Exeter). Keep in right hand lane then continue forward onto the A3015. Leave the M5 (j27) signposted Barnstaple then at roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A361. At Portmore roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A39 (signposted Bideford) at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit(Bideford) cross River Taw Bridge. At roundabout take 1st exit onto A39 and at Roundswell roundabout take 2nd exit onto the A39. Turn right, then at roundabout take 1st exit onto A386 (signposted Torrington) continue forward onto the A386, entering Bideford. good value for money accomodation.....Evening meal not brilliant so I ate at another hotel. Bar could do with some real ales to stop customers drifting to nearby pubs.

I have now stayed at this hotel on two occasions and on both occasions the dining room has been closed. The first time for refurbishment and the second for " putting up the Christmas decorations"

Food not available at 8:50pm when suposed to be available until 9.00pm. Ignored at breakfast while they served a coach party. No parking.

Comfortable, clean and very friendly. It's by no means 5* but great value for the price paid. Room was a decent size, clean, tea & coffee making facilities, good sized bathroom. I've paid more than 3x as much per night in other hotels and have not been anywhere near as impressed.
