Very friendly and helpful staff. Only a one night stay so didn't get chance to see local area but a very picturesque part of the world. A cold winters morning was ideal to appreciate the grounds |

On first inspection the hotel is beautiful, open log fires and very grand, our bedroom also looked very luxurious and was in style with the rest of the house, however, the rooms do need some TLC if they are going to continue to call this a luxury hotel. This probably sounds a little worse than in reality, but all true; the shower, one of those old fashioned telephone style showers, was just a dribble and not only did it continue to go from hot to cold, there was no bracket further up the wall to hang it on. The seal around the bath could also have done with ripping out and replacing, and whilst there wasn't a radiator in the bathroom, there was a towel rail - but it didn't work. The bedroom was freezing when we first arrived, and I had to turn the radiator on myself, although it was still a little cold and I think the draft was coming from the windows. I also noticed a good few cobwebs around the floor lamp and a stain on the ceiling above the bed, maybe from a previous leak! Saying this, the room was still nice, but as previously said, it does need some TLC. Staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help. This could be a 5* hotel if they really wanted it to be, especially with the chef - top class food! Undecided if I would stay here again. |

Lovely location, great staff and super food (if a limited menu), with a pleasant wine list. Easy to relax and, with wi-fi everywhere, easy to work too. Some of the deocr is a bit tired but that's forgiveable in such a place - and they appear to be redecorating anyway. |

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, the buildings are well kept and our room was lovely. My only suggestion for improvement is to have food available throughout the day. We missed lunch and there was no food available on the premises - not even a small bar snack or a bag of crisps. We would have liked to have dined in the hotel restaurant, but were too late for booking a table. The hotel staff were however very helpful in booking us into a lovely restaurant nearby. Breakfast was very nice, even if the service was slightly slow. All in all a very nice hotel experience though:-)) |
