My wife and I stayed for one night, mid week and the service was excellent. I believe that because there were few guests at this time staff had time, and made an extra effort, to look after us. The whole experience is one that I would highly recommend to anyone.

A stunning location, driving through the woods in the dark then arriving at the floodlit gatehouse was just amazing.
The room was clean and the experience of staying in a castle made it even better.
I just wish it had been for a romantic break with my wife & not alone on business.

A unique place to stay for the price of a Travelodge! Definitely a castle, down to the draughty corridors but the room was excellent value for £45, with wide flatscreen TV and quality fittings throughout.
Dinner was a big disappointment. My 'rare' rib-eye steak came 'medium' and was bizarrely served on a piece of wood, which meant the steak arrived almost cold and I played 'chase the meal' as the wooden slab would not stay still on the table!
Rounded off by 6 chips served in a wire basket with a handle. Paid extra for 2 mouthfuls of side salad and served by an obsequious waiter... "Rare steak sir? Exactly how it should be cooked..." and to the table next door, "Your steak well done? Exactly how I like it....!"
However, this did not take a way from a unique experience at a budget price, and a pleasant surprise in the morning to walk past a range of teathered birds of prey that flanked the courtyard!

Both my wife and myself found this to be a most enjoyable mid week break. The accomodation was more than adequate, the food (although we only had breakfast) was plentiful, freshly prepared and very tasteful. Will definately recommend to family and friends.
