My first gripe was that on arrival in Newquay, my partner and I were caught in a terrential downpour and got soaked, but when I rang the hotel and asked if we could check in slightly early, we were told firmly that check in was 2pm and not a minute before. We had to sit in soaking wet clothes for two hours! The hotel is very easy to find and is in a great location. On arrival, the receptionist could have been a bit friendlier/helpful and I was a bit put out that in addition to paying the whole balance up front, they also insisted on taking a £50 'holding fee' which I later found had actually been debited to my account be the receptionist and had to be refunded when I checked out. The room was fine, but the 'balcony' overlooked the roof and although we could see the see, it was a little disappointing. The bathroom was clean but the shower wasn't very powerful and the towels were quite small. There were handy complimentary toothbrushes/paste and shaving razor and gel . As the weather had not improved, we decided to use the spa facilities. No towels or robes are provided and the pool was occupied by 3 screaming kids, not very relaxing!! There was no one at the spa reception each time we visited. |

We stayed in the hotel at the end of February and we were greatly impressed throughout our whole stay. We used all the amenities including having an excellent spa treatment. We stayed for 4 nights, we did have a slight problem with our room (which was huge), and without any fuss our baggage was moved to another equally good room. The food in the restaurant was heaven, the service impeccable although one could do without the morning TV going on whilst having breakfast. All-in-all a fabulous stay and one that we would certainly repeat again. The age of most guests was between early twenties and mid fifties, the decor reflected this and was more "beachy" than plush hotel, but it easily suited the hotel's location and the surfer type image. Well done! |

We booked a Superior room with sea view through the LateRooms website, what we ended up with was a Standard room with a 'sea glimpse', so perhaps the hotel need to keep their details on this website more up-to-date? The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations. The hotel itself has a good location - near the beach and approx. 20 minute walk into Newquay. We had a room on the top floor, which was very warm and stuffy so luckily the weather was good enough for us to be able to keep the window open all night (though the room did have an air con unit). The decor was a little tired and the carpets stained. Our shower didn't seem to be a very powerful power shower and the water temperature varied wildly from freezing cold to scalding hot with nothing in between. The restaurant has nice sea views, but for an evening meal was quite expensive for the size of the portions (and I say that as someone who lives in London); breakfast was better value for money and bar drinks prices were reasonable. I would consider staying here again for the LateRooms reduced price, but would not pay full price. |

We had a wonderful sea view from our smallish but clean, quiet and comfortable room. The window was smaller than we would have liked but adequate. The weather was very wet and windy but the hotel was warm and cozy. Breakfast was served in a room with a lovely view across a bay. |
