The room accommodation was good, it was clean and tidy and a maid came in every morning to clean. The accommodation is above the pub, so there was a tendency for some late night noise. This could be quite off putting if the location of the room was directly above the pub, our room was in the front, but the noise level could still be heard. The food in the restaurant was generally ok, but it was rather limited, and was generally best descibed as fair pub grub. The downside was that at breakfast one morning, my wife was served toast, that was obviously moldy and the reaction of the young girl serving could have hardly been described as apolgetic. It was taken away with very little concern from her. More care needs to taken over the observation of detail like this and the same applied to the one and only evening meal we had there, which was lacking in quality and presentation. |

The breakfast the morning after was lovely. The only problem we faced was the shortage of Taxi's. There were no taxi's to take us into Padstow on the Saturday night which was really annoying, i was organised to find a taxi company's number before going there. However we had no signal on our phones and had to use the payphone next to the Really smelly blokes toilets and spent about £7 to not get any luck and we had to drive in the end, which i was not happy about! Obviously this was not the hotels fault, but it would have been better if they called for a taxi on our behalf, as we were not from that area, and would have taken the stress away. So i would defo book a taxi in advance next time. We had the same problem the next day with the taxi's and luckily the barman took us to collect our car from Padstow. Other than that everything else was ok. When we came back from our night out there was a really good band playing in the bar area and it finished off our night out perfectly. Although it was a nice hotel opposite a secluded beach, i would probably stay elsewhere to get a better look of Cornwall |

The Harlyn Inn is a biggish pub with a number of rooms above it and some self catering cottages next to it. It is set in a quiet bay which when I went (April) was very quiet. The room itself was modern and spotless with decent shower facilities, a comfortable bed and tea and coffee making provided. Most of all it was quiet with the noise from the bar area not troubling me at all. Breakfast in the morning was what you would expect and the pub food in the evening much the same. In both cases it was wholesome and OK. Plenty of parking, which is always a bonus but don't rely on getting your mobile to work anywhere near, mobile coverage starts half a mile up the road. The pub itself was busy and had music over the weekend but like I say did not disturb me when I stayed. If you are looking for a small hotel in a quiet spot I would recommend it although I cannot speak or the high season. |
