The price bracket this hotel puts itself in makes you expect better. It is not a bad hotel but does not meet any of the standards you would expect. The room only had one towel, room service is limited and not available after 2130, the bar is poorly stocked and appears to be an add on of the reception area, and although everyone was paying the same price some had breakfast included, others didn't, some had car parking, others didn't. There are no leisure facilities or extra guest facilities. The hotel has re-branded itself from a quality inn, which usualy offer good value for money but not much in the way of guest servies. Hotel 53 still have no additional features, it has just made itself look a bit nicer, yet it charges at a rate similar to Crowne Plaza, Hilton Etc. |

Hotel is in a great location and very close to centre. Main down side of the hotel is lack of air conditioning and noise from outside early in the morning - We stayed mid week so no doubt the noise from the bar opposite at the wkend we be louder. |

Issues: Lift broken for 3+ days ! Excellent service at check in spoiled by disinterest from subsequent front of house staff. Parking problems through assigned spaces being occupied by non-hotel-guests (posted threats of tickets, fines &c. are not carried out.) Rooms facing the alley between the hotel and the Law Courts were disturbed at 5.00 a.m. by hotel staff trundling waste trolleys to the street; other street noise (e.g. partying drunks from the hotel opposite spending 3 (yes, three)hours - yes, three hours laughing, shouting in the street) is funnelled up the same alley. The so-called Family Room was small for a single room, never mind a 3-4 person family. "Bathroom" is a shower room. |
