Family run, The Blossoms combines a friendly, informal atmosphere with efficient service, and is equally suited to the travelling businessman or to the family on holiday.. For those on holiday, we are situated in a great location for the city centre, and we have lots of local information & tips to hand. We serve freshly prepared breakfasts for just £7.50 (£4.50 kids u11) from 7:30 until 10am to give you the energy you need for a busy day of relaxing! We also offer a substantial continental breakfast for £4.50 (£2.50 u11s.) For those with work to do, we offer free wireless internet; phone calls, copying and FAXing are all charged at reasonable rates; we serve early breakfasts from 7:30am The Blossoms has a free private car park; if full, there is on-street parking available nearby (free.) We are just 5 Minutes walk from City Walls and within easy walking distance of the train station / national express stop. Kindly note, in accordance with local laws, the Blossoms is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted in the gardens.

We have an enviable location, only 5 minutes stroll from the city walls & 8 minutes to York Minster.

Whether you are arriving by car, train or coach, we are conveniently located close to the city centre.

By Car:

We are located on Bootham (A19), approx 0.5 miles from the city centre. Look out for a footbridge crossing the road - we are close to this, opposite a very old school building. Our car park is at the rear of the property, and accessed from Burton Stone Lane (this road has the 'Burton Stone' pub on the corner.) About 30 yards along Burton Stone Lane, you will see a large car park on the right hand side. Enter this car park, and go through the gap in the back right-hand corner. Our parking is in the numbered spaces.

For those guests who are not familiar with York, be warned that the city centre contains pedestrian streets & one-way systems. For this reason, we strongly advise using the York Northern Ring Road (A1237) and approaching from the North. Coming into York along the A19 from this direction, (signposted 'Rawcliffe',) we are about 20 yards before the footbridge on the left hand side.

By Train:

To walk to us from the station takes about 10-15 minutes. On exiting York Station by the main entrance (with the taxi rank,) turn left. Follow the road past the Royal York hotel, and cross straight over at the traffic lights. Go straight on, and through the gate in the bar walls (city walls.) turn left, and cross the river. Continue straight ahead to the next set of traffic lights. Turn left, and continue to the next set of traffic lights. Turn left again, into Bootham, and walk until you see a footbridge crossing the road. We are on the right hand side.

Alternatively, pay about £5 for a taxi!!

By coach:

York's national express stop is at the railway station - see the above directions.

By air:

The closest airport is Leeds Bradford, which is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Manchester & Birmingham airports both have excellent train links to York, taking 2-3 hours.

The hotel stairs had not been hoovered for a while. The room was very basic, the bed was very very uncomfortable, all you could feel was the springs. The quilt was very thin, we were freezing during the night, pillow was non existent and know one to ask for extra pillow.. we didn't sleep at all. the bathroom was very tired - tap moved when you put it on , shower holder broken . I would have been very upset if I had paid full price.

phone up on the day to confirm booking & parking. told no problem with parking, but upon arrival, we were told there are only 7 spaces for 17 rooms & had to park in neighbouring street & liable to any parking charges or fines if not moved before 10am. Room was comfortable enough & location within walking distance to York centre. Didn't have breakfast, but there is a cafe 2 minutes walk away for much better value.

I took my boyfreind for his birthday we only stayed one night but the staff was helpful, the room was lovely warm and clean and it was just close enought to the centre to walk. I would recommend this hotel and will return in the future.

Very good and friendly service, we were even offered a choice between two rooms, we had the one at the top, a lot of steps but well worth it for the view. A very nice well equipped room, would definitely stay again.
