I took my partner to The Linthwaite House Hotel for his birthday. The setting was beautiful with a gorgeous view over Lake Windemere. Unfortunately our room had no view of the lake and instead we looked out to the footpath of the hotel. This wasn't particularly nice, especially as we were on the ground floor so people were able to walk past and look in the room. The room was very clean, however the old fashioned green bath had stains down the side. The walls were paper thin and we were awake early every morning due to noises from people coughing in other rooms and the sounds from the kitchen (which was opposite our room). Perhaps if we had paid more for the luxury room, rather than the standard room that we booked, we may have had a nicer experience at the hotel, however I feel that the price we paid should have been reflected in a nice room with a good view.
The hotel's website boasts a spa and swimming pool, however this turned out to be a neighbouring hotel's facilities which we were able to use.
Upon checkout, we discovered that our 'complementary newspaper' had been charged to our room. Very surprised and disappointed at this.
The staff were all fantastic and really attentive.
We would not go back to this hotel again in the future, nor would we advise family or friends to go. It has a beautiful location and the hotel has lots of character, however the room made us feel like we were stayingin in a budget hotel. Considering this was sold as a luxury hotel with a luxury price tag, we were both very disappointed with the hotel.

The hotel was really nice. The staff were friendly and happy to help with any query. We stayed in one of the new rooms and it was very nice, it had everything you could ever want! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the lake district.

The hotel is situated in a fabulous location with postcard perfect views of the lake. It has a few on site activities for you to enjoy not least of all fishing in its very own picturesque tarn. If that wasn’t enough the service was first class, not just the everyday customer service but the extra little touches that make your stay that extra bit special. We were on our anniversary and these gestures made us feel looked after and valued.
There was building work going on at one end of the hotel but this in no way hampered our stay. The staff were professional and friendly.
The hotel is in a great location for the rest of the Lake District, but as it is situated back from the town centre it is, I feel, better suited to car users. I will definitely stay here again.

Excellent Hotel. Friendly staff and very clean with excellent views and surroundings. Great location - very close to Bowness. Room was great and the Food good quality, although evening meals are expensive so only ate breakfast in Hotel which was great. There should be a cheaper option of just a main meal of an evening but there are plenty of restaurants near by in Bowness. Would definately stay again.
