Overall an impressive hotel from the outside with a nice rural feel to the grounds and surrounding countryside. Being really picky, I felt the ambiance in the restaurant could be improved. The lighting needs to be subdued a little while the modern paintings hanging at present do not fit in with the overall period feel of the property.
Service was good and the rooms were clean and tidy. Personally I feel that wi-fi broadband internet access needs to be made available in the bedrooms (only available in the public areas on the ground floor at present) this would be useful for people who are staying on both a business and leisure basis . Also, I would have felt happier if a safe was provided in the rooms to keep valuables in.
Still, however a hotel which I intend to use again as it is perfectly situated for Cheltenham Racecourse.

Good position, nice rooms. Only let down by thin walls so the neighbour seemed like he was in our roon ever morning.

Hotel and staff helpful and welcoming.
We had dinner on Friday evening and between our party sampled two main courses. The London Mixed Grill was a very poor choice, the chop and steak were severely overcooked and the saute potatoes were tough to the point that I was unable to cut them with the knife provided. The fish dish was a better choice though it's accommpanying fennel was overcooked and tasteless. For the third course we chose, cheese which was still cold from the fridge and the "cheddar type" appeared to be a smoked cheese, possiby of German origin. The cheesecake was quite tasteless but the member of our party who chose fruit and sorbet found it to be quite acceptable.
