Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links

Hotel served super food but menu was limited both in restaurant and cocktail bar. Thus it became repetitive. A couple of daily specials would be a good idea. It seemed as though they didn't have enough staff (in the kitchens?) to allow every one who wanted a table to get one.

Disappointed with hotel. Asked for a non smoking room however the first room offered reeked of smoke and the second offering was really musty with a large damp stain on the wall. Customer service was poor when we asked to change room.

We arrived from the airport around 11:30, expecting to have to wait until 2pm to book in but the room was ready. We were given a gorgeous room, (room 401), in the old part of the building. The spacious room was beautiful, with a four-poster bed, lovely furniture & furnishings, a garden view and so quiet & peaceful.
We ate in the cocktail bar twice, both times very good , e.g. piping hot soup, delicious sandwiches, again with a stunning view over the bay. Access to the beach is easy - a short walk and hardly a soul on the fantastic beach.
Breakfast was perfect. All staff we had contact with were charming. Thank you for a lovely one-night stay, which was to attend the Neil Young gig at Malahide Castle. All in all, one perfect weekend.

On Arrival the reception staff were very friendly and made you so welcome, working in the tourism trade this was a joy to experience as it is lacking in most hotels, however on check out the experience was the opposite there was a problem with my booking they had not received late rooms confirmation, on arrival they said they would sort it however on check out they wanted me to sort it. It was the overall attitude at check out, no mention of had you a nice stay was everything ok, the receptionist attitude was terrible, very blunt, no smile really stroppy unfortuntely this one person gave a negative impact on the overall experience.
