Roman Lodge Hotel

Ponthir Road,Caerleon, Cardiff

Situated on the outskirt of Caerleon the Roman Lodge is frequented by business users in the week. At weekends things change. We have over 30 Golf courses within a 20 min drive of the hotel, including St. Pierre. Only 5 mins to the Celtic Manor the hosts for this years Welsh Open and 2010 Ryder Cup. 20 Mins to the new Millenium Stadium at Cardiff. Here in our own historic village we have a Roman Amphitheatre, Baths & Museum, this being the Roman Fortress of Isca, the H.Q. of the 2nd Augustan Legion for hundreds of years.

No towels in the room on arrival and the main room lights did not work.

Hotel of a fair standard. Room was quite small with a disfunctional shower cubicle. Expected the hotel to be on the outskirts of Cardiff but is in fact a good 20-30 minute taxi ride from town centre which is misleading on the web.

I had the creakest floorboards I've ever heard! Also a broken toilet seat, no central heating on and no duvet on the bed...only a shabby blanket in the top of the wardrobe. However, it was convenient for me and quiet so I would stay here again.
I certainly wouldn't pay their advertised prices of £70 for a double room. I got it for £50 which was enough.
