Britannia Hotel

35 Portland Street, Manchester

Dating back to 1858 this City Centre grade II listed building has an amazing detailed balconied stairway throughout the building. All 363 bedrooms have recently been tastefully decorated and all furnished with TV, Hairdryer, Trouser Press and Tea & Coffee making facilities. There are some rooms that do not have a window but most of these have skylights and are air-conditioned, ideal for the budget conscious! The hotel also boasts three great restaurants that include Crompton’s French restaurant , Jenny’s Restaurant with its excellent value for money 3-course Carvery Lunch and Dinner and The Overstuffed Pizzeria with a varied selection of Italian Dishes and lighter meals in bright and air surroundings. In addition there are four bars, Cromptons being the residents bar, Jenny's serving the restaurant, vibrant Waves Bar , open till late for residents and non-residents and Bar Rogue a popular Nightclub in the city centre. There are nine Conference rooms available for any occasion and cater for up to 200 people. WIFI is free to all guests and is available throughout the building. Car parking is avaible at a local NCP Multi storey, where guests receive a 20% discount, however we do offer Valet parking at a small charge. Our multi-national reception staff would like to welcome you to our hotel. The members of our front desk speak 12 different languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Polish, German, Hungarian, Armenian, Russian, Italian, Mandarin, and Cantonese).

From South: Take Junction 19 off the M6 following the signs for Manchester Airport/M56. After 19 Miles the M56 becomes the Princess Parkway at the end is a roundabout take 2nd Exit onto Medlock St this becomes Albion St. Turn right at the lights onto Great Bridgewater St, this becomes Chepstow St and then Portland St the Hotel is just past the CIS building.From the East: Off the M62 Junction 20 signed Rochdale/Oldham/Ashton (A627M) after 5 miles turn right onto Oldaham Rd. After 3 miles turn left onto Great Ancoats St take the first turning right at the lights onto Newton St. Stay straight to go onto Portland St. The Hotel is on the left after Westminster House.From North: From M6 take the M61 Exit (Junction 30) towards Manchester/Bolton M62 Leeds. Merge onto the M61 then take the M60. After 1 mile take the M602/M62 Exit (Junction 12) Signed Salford/Liverpool/Birmingham. Merge onto Eccles Interchange. Eccles Interchange becomes the M602 take first exit onto Medlock St this becomes Albion St. Turn right at the lights onto Great Bridgewater St, this becomes Chepstow St and then Portland St the Hotel is just past the CIS building.

we found the security on the satutrday evenening to unneccesarily abrupt, intimidating and agressive. REALLY let down what was otherwise a pleasent hotel.

There was no hot water on the mornig of my stay. Free wifi was a benefit
