Swallow Hotel Glasgow

Reception was excellent and staff throughout very friendly. Hotel is a bit tired and looks like a refurbishment is required.

This hotel was abysmal. The pictures on line were rather impressive, which was completely misleading!

The hotel was tired, old, dirty. Should have realised what I was going into when the carpark was full of waste rubbish and a a skip with old beds and other rubbish.
I stayed their with guests of ours from Germany, I was terribly embarassed, but we could not change hotels at this late stage.
Also I have used AMEX cards all round the world and NEVER ever had to pay up front, because and I quote from the front office receptionist: AMEX is an american company and they are a risk what with banks etc and we now have to insist on pre-payment on arrival and especially as these cards have a very high fraud rate, we can't be to careful.
I challenged the receptionist asking if he was implying my card was a fraud and that I was some kind of trickster or thief. He had no response just to say that was what he had been informed to say. Unbelievable! I had no choice but to pay on arrival.
After getting to my room and seeing the mess on the way, know why they insist on payment upfront, simply because, had we not paid, we would have been tempted to check out immediately! Also I had to change rooms as the original room had a broken shower (did not work) and the room lights did not work!
The corridors were dirty, roof tiles missing, water stained and the carpets were thread bare the reception area had old boxes, a mass of cables, was dischevelled and not what you would expect from the Swallow Group of Hotels.
The only glimmer of light was a very helpful barman, who at least was interested in his job and the guests.
We ate out as the restaurant closes at 20:30pm. We decided to find somewhere else to eat at the Keyside (lots of restaurants) just 5 minutes by taxi.
Our two nights at this 'hotel' just could not end quickly enough, lucky for us.
I would NEVER stay here again, and NEVER recommend this to any of my family or friends or business associates.

Very nice friendly staff, from checking in to the bar and resterant staff. The room was warm and cosy at a very cold time of year.The restaurant food was very good for breakfast and dinner, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.I had a manicure in the hotel by a lovely lady and excellent manicure I would highly recommend her.

Got the feeling we had been put into the "servants quarter" since we had booked through Late rooms! The room was very dated and in need of renovation and although the bathroom was clean it was very shabby and also needed a make over. The leisure complex was ok but again would benefit from some work being done to it. The staff were very nice and helpful, we ordered pizza from room service and it was very good. Breakfast was also very good with good selection to choose from.
