Service on all levels from the owners to the bar staff was great, really friendly and genuine on a down to earth level which was refreshing after a whole week of 5 star hotel service! (not that there was anything wrong with that) Felt lucky to find somewhere with such a lovely room (we had the four poster bed), great service and great British food at the price we got it at, loved the real fire as well...fantastic value, would stay again.

John,Tony and all the staff attended to our every needs without being over attentive. The room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The food was 1st class and priced very well. We had stayed in a cottage a few doors away last year and used the pub for drinking and dining so we knew we were in good hands, the locals too are very friendly. we will come back again, and hopefully very soon

Stayed in the Coniston room, which was gorgeous especially the plush white duvet on the 4 poster bed. Downstairs in the pub was cosy, friendly and welcoming. We reserved a table and ate our dinner in front of the fire. Meal are huge and very tasty. Only minor complaint was the shower which was a bit erratic. Wouldn't put me off staying again though. The owner recommended an alternative route to Coniston the day we checked out, lovely views along the east side of the lake that we would have missed via the conventional route. Would definitely go back.
