Our stay was everything and more than we had expected in this charming, country hotel situated conveniently just outside the City.

The hotel is handy for York with a handy bus stop just outside if you don't like driving. The room was clean and everything worked.We only stayed a couple of nights and could not fault the breakfast, we did not sample an evening meal in the restaurant.

Hotel service fine overall, but the bed in our room (No 1) was so creaky it actually woke us up every time one of even moved. The worst I've slept in.

lovely Georgian features - friendly staff - the Plough Pub over the road does great pub grub.
