Gran Hotel Son Julia has a unique and rich history, tracing back all the way to the 15th century when the Juliá family possessed the vast lands and the estate Son Julia.The noble and highly-esteemed Juliá family who kept Son Julia as their principal residence, and the family estate passed from son to son. The family was considered very wealthy and in 1523 Son Julia was valued at 7000 pounds. One of the heirs, Bartolomé Julía added the the wording Ca S´Hereu, and todate both names are still visible upon entering the property. One of the heirs, Pascual Felipe de Togores, 10th Count of Ayamans, played an important role in the neighbouring village of Llucmayor. In times of hunger and poverty, he supplied them with jobs on the grounds of Son Julia. The estate was fruitful and in 1891 Son Julia had 7563 almond trees, 1090 fig trees, 272 carob trees, 28 olive trees and various fruit trees. Remnants from the Cyclopic-era were found on the grounds of Son Julia, but were unfortunately destroyed. Today, Gran Hotel Son Julia has been completely restored, keeping intact some original items such as the well and the stone archways of the hotel. Gran Hotel Son Julia now has 25 sumptuously designed rooms and impressive suites, each with private balconies and terraces, spacious bathrooms and offering guests the very best in technology, elegance and comfort.

You are free to wander through the wide corridors and admire the local artists‘ work adorning the walls or the vast and impressive Oriental rugs throughout the hotel.
Paintings by Miquel Mesquida Sansó decorate the hallways as part of a permanent exposition, where guests can actually purchase his work. The Mallorcan artist Gordiola has decorated the public areas with his beautiful handcrafted lamps.
