Not a place I would stay if I were travelling alone - definitely a blokes' hotel. Tiny bathroom and pretty poor breakfast. |

The Balmoral is one of several I have used in this area and probably best value for money. For a business trip on your own all you need is a warm cosy room with bare neccessities and a good breakfast. Job done! |

really nice cheap and cheerful hotel, good value for money, breakfast and all that, handy for the city centre, but not right amongst it all. |

Ours was an overnight stop. My room on the ground floor was very satisfactory with heat, and warm water in the shower, but that of my friends had not been prepared for guests, having no electric light bulb in the ceiling fitting and no other light! The receptionist brought a tall man from the bar to stand astride the beds to put a bulb in. The heating in the room did not work and there was only tepid water in the shower. On the plus side, there was good parking space at the rear of the hotel and the breakfast was pleasently served. |
