Directions to Wringford Down
Just half an hour off the end of the A38 Devon Expressway at Plymouth, we are very easy to get to from all parts of the British Isles. From Plymouth take the car ferry to Torpoint, follow the A374 to Antony and there take the left turn towards Millbrook. When you reach a T junction turn left onto the B3247 towards Millbrook. Proceed past Millbrook to the school at the top of the hill (Fourlanesend) and turn right for Cawsand. Turn immediately right again up a narrow lane and you will find the entrance to Wringford Down on the right just over the brow of the hill. Alternatively stay on the A38 past Plymouth across the Saltash bridge to Trerulefoot roundabout from where you can double back on the A374 towards Torpoint then turning right towards Millbrook and following the directions above.

The 'hotel' is considered to be more of a B&B than a hotel. Although the location was peaceful, no mobile phone signal or internet facitiy was available, which may not be suitable for business visitors. The cost of the room plus breakfast was considered excessive compared to other venues around and the earliest breakfast could be offered was 08.30 am. The place appears to be geared up for families staying on holiday with a young family not for buiness people. |

Although the owners were pleasant, they did not seem to grasp the difference beteween average service and making a real effort. The scrambled eggs at breakfast could have been prepared better by my teenage son: soggy, white thin-crusted bread and congealed, pure-solid eggs. I felt embarrassed for the foreign guests who would have been used to much, much better, but probably far too polite to mention it!! It takes so little to make that bit extra effort. We had arrived from overseas, very tired and looking forward to to the British hospitality.....I'm sorry but it was not what I would've expected. You let Britain down...please try harder! - I would not come back, neither recommend. |

For a family with small children (4 and 2) this was a great place to stay. From family friendly menu/cutlery to a safe/clean/sizeable indoor pool and lots of play areas/things to do including shetland horses and ducks on-site. The rooms were a little dated but clean and comfortable and the added bonus of most rooms being two-room suites meant that little ones could go to bed without parents having to tiptoe around for the rest of the evening. We didn't use it but all rooms had baby listening devices linked directly to the bar which some may find useful. Food was good quality, healthy (lots of veg) and plentiful (with seconds offered!) and afternoon tea was lovely - everything seemed home made. Overall a great family feel and with the little extras which made it a very pleasant and worry-free stay. |
