I was best man for a wedding party which was to take place at 4pm. None of the rooms were available until 3pm. To make matters worse, as I am disabled I requested an appropriate room and of course. But, when I gained access to the room, the smell of cigarettes was overpowering. I requested the immediate attention of house keeping to sort the problem. They did their best with fabric freshener etc but I was now later than ever to get ready. I returned to the room later and the smell was as strong as ever and the furniture wreaked of smoke. I also found a large quantity of cigarette ash outside on the patio area. As it was my best friends wedding....I felt that I must bite my tongue until the morning. I slept badly in that room and the smell was disgusting. At no time was I offered an alternative room nor offered for the bedding to be changed. I complained first thing in the morning to the duty manager who I didn`t feel was sincere in her apology. If it was not for the occasion for which I attended, I would have insisted my money back. |

The Hotel would benefit of some decorating, the main part of the Hotel was very shabby and the carpet was very worn in places. Not good. The room itself was modern and clean but very small, the TV was not connected properly to an aeriel and being on the desk was difficult to watch as at was at an awkward angle. We had Sunday lunch and it was very nice when we eventually got it. We had to wait an hour and had to remind the barman that we had ordered it, they said because they had a wedding they were very busy and had forgotton our order. We have been to Swallow Hotels before and this was very disappointing. |

Worst dining experience ever. Evening meal - they obviously forgot our order since we were waiting for ages and I had to remind the restuarant manager. Plates dirty. Ditto for second course. When main course eventually arrived my wife's steak was cremated and uncuttable - so not only was it badly cooked but someone also obviously thought it was still acceptable to be served. They replaced but as a result we ate our main meals at different times! (Neighbouring table had similar experience with their fish). Breakfast below average and table cloths and cups dirty. |
