I had the peeling ceiling paper, shower with broken metal flex and shaver socket that had to have the plug held in to work. However, the breakfast was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the room quiet. The beer was well kept but over-priced at £3.50 a pint. A 1 inch map or satnav is almost essential to find the hotel and the roads may be challenging in winter. The peacock walking down the road ahead of me totally unflustered was a nice welcome! |

My 15 year old son and I stayed at The Mortal Man for one night and paid just over £200 for DBB. The food was good as it should have been for £35 each. The service was ok with a young mostly foreign staff - a request for suggested local walking routes was met with a blank stare. The room was basic with flaking paint and dim lighting, dated with a tiny TV and no remote. It is high season and the Lakes is expensive but frankly The Mortal Man is over-rated and expensive. |

food is good bit expensive, rooms are clean but are in need of refurbishment. We paid £55 pounds for a double room through laterooms which i consider to be a fair price, certainly would not want to pay the full price. |
