not your run of the mill chain hotel - a real original - lovely property in pleasant surroundings. resturant small and personal - tiny menu but simple honest high quility food - excellent steaks. would recommend for a bit of peace and quiet - we stayed as part of settle carlisle railway trip.

This has to rate as one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed ion - it was dark and damp. The bathroom door didn't shut either. The pictures on the website certainly were nothing like the one I styaed in.

Great hotel - second time I have stayed. Great steaks in the restaurant with very frendly and helpful staff. Would (and have) recommended the hotel to friends and colleagues. All round good expereince.
