Great location, in a very quirky hotel. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Comfortable chairs in both dining room and lounges. where you could unwind and enjoy the total silence! The dinner in the evening in the dining room was excellent, and the atmosphere and experience was lovely. Looking forward to our next visit in the winter and enjoying the ambience of the log fires! |

The hotel is well positioned in the small village of Simonsbath overlooking the road (not busy/noisy) with views down a pretty valley. An old building with public rooms that are full of character; especially the two lounges where you can relax in comfy sofas/chairs reading books from their library or playing games from their selection whilst enjoying a cup of tea or something alcoholic from the small bar. This is what made the place for us. We stayed for two nights in a standard room which was basic but more than adequate (en-suite, TV, hair dryer, good hospitality tray, comfy double bed) and was clean and tidy although the décor was definitely not what could be described as ‘modern chic’ (none of your flat screen TVs or monsoon showers here), but this seems more fitting of a property of this age. |
