We thought this hotel in a prime locationwould live up to expectations, however on arrival we were notified there was no running water until after 1900 therefore no tea facilities - no offer of bottled water! Dinner was ok being served by a very friendly lady who was also serving in the bar. The morning of departure we found no hot water or heating in the bathroom, due to time constraints a quick wash using endless kettles was carried out. On enquiring at the reception we were told that they knew of the problem the previous night and tried to find us to upgrade our room. Hard to imagine this search as we were only one of 2 couples at dinner and the only ones using the bar, a note under our door would have sufficed. The attitude of the receptionist was very offhand, the duty manager was helpful and apologetic. |

The hotel is tired and therefore overpriced. The room was smaller than many budget hotel rooms - only room for one bedside table. The bathroom had clean sanitary ware but the tiles needed re- grouting, the overall effect was very tatty. The overbath shower overshot the bath and drenched the soggy windowframe, the window was difficult to open and there was no extractor. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good with pleasant service.. The place needs a major overhaul. |
