The Tryp Cibeles hotel is located right in the Gran Via of Madrid. Close to the Plaza Mayor square, Puerta del Sol, Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Congreso de los Diputados and the famous museums El Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen. We had read the Hotels reviews on various websites before we went and some were good, some mixed and some a little scathing, the scathing of which proved to be totally un-called for. We found the Tryp Cibeles perfect for our needs in the heart of Gran Via and the bohemien area of Fuencarral St and Cortelesa. Walking distance to all the main attractions, bars, restaurants and clubs. The staff were helpful and friendly and even arranged an additional guest at short notice over New Year 2007. The rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable, serviced well every day. We didnt eat in the hotel as it only caters for breakfast and has a Telepizza roomservice, but that's perfect for a capital city centre hotel in the middle of things. We stayed in two different rooms in our stay to accomodate the additonal guest that joined us and the room change process was simple and trouble free. The first room for the 2 of us faced onto Gran Via and whilst the traffic noice is 24/7, the triple glazing with the windowed balcony, shut out most of the noise, the 2nd room was in the inner courtyard and silent at night. If you are looking for good quality, reasonably priced accomodation (150 euro per night at New Year! )for anything up to a week then this hotel is for you!!
