Swissotel Amsterdam

We requested a non smoking room but due to last min booking we were given a smoking room 1st night then given an upgraded room 2nd night. Hotel was excellent and reception staff were really helpful. They held our luggage before and after we checked in.

Excellent location just off Dam Sq. just 5 minutes walk from Central station. Remarkable room size compared to other Hotels in central Amsterdam.

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel or service. The room was very modern and spacious and very clean. The staff were very freindly and helpful. Don't normally use room service or mini bars but as the price of them was similar to that in the local shops it was worth it and didn't seem to be extortinate. It's a shame the same can't be said about the price of the alcoholic drinks in Amsterdam. 2 single vodka and cokes cost depending on where you went cost around 10-18 euros- the latter being much more expensive than in England (Blackpool to be precise) Other than that everything was great and on the doorstep of the Swissotel. Arriving at Schiphol airport- the train station is just underneath where you need to get a ticket to Central amsterdam which is only about 3 train stops. Once there you only have to walk straight ahead for about 10 mins and the hotel will be on your right (after KFC).

Great location right on Dam square, very easy to find from central station. We stayed in a room on the 6th (top) floor at the rear of the hotel with rooftop views. This location made it a quiet room.
The staff were all friendly and pleasant, we had a late flight and leaving our baggage in the luggage room was not a problem.
The stay was on a room only basis so no meals were taken in the hotel, however the prices at the hotel restaurant seemed similar to many of the other Amsterdam eating establishments.

however when we booked hotel through laterooms we were not aware that there would be an addtional charge of 9 euros per night- on top of the room rate already for european tax?!! so was a bit of a shock when we came to pay the bil in the hotel!
