Traditional family run inn, open all year, with a seperate dining room. Eight inviting ensuite rooms including a lovely four poster room with beamed ceiling. Friendly atmosphere, real fire, good quality food - Hearty Dales Breakfasts, lunchtime hot & cold Lite Bites, a varied Evening Menu and traditional Sunday Lunches. Lovely countryside setting adjacent to the A65 with a wide appeal and a warm welcome. One mile from the ancient market town of Settle and the famous Settle - Carlisle Railway. Close to the Yorkshire three peaks, Pen y Gent, Ingleborough and Wernside with many local attractions & activities in the area and walks from the doorstep. We do not allow pets in our rooms and the pub and rooms are totally non smoking. Traditional Folk Nights are held on the third Wednesday of each month. PLEASE NOTE: Bank holiday minimum booking: 2 nights. CHECK IN TIME ON MONDAYS IS AFTER 6.00pm and EVENING MEALS ARE ONLY SERVED ON MONDAYS FROM EASTER TO SEPTEMBER

We were on foot once friends had brought us by car to the hotel. Not ideally situated -- next to a main road and a mile out of town. But it is very close to a railway station, though the service is very infrequent, but we were able to get back to Leeds and then home to London from there. Otherwise absolutely fine.

While the bedroom was pleasant enough, the bathroom was tiny and very badly designed with a very cramped toilet and no towel rail. Basic tv without remote control, small wardrobe and wall mirror fitted too low. Mattress fair - not superb. Some noise from central heating pipes. If you arrive when the bar is closed you have to stand outside (in the rain!) and phone up for attention. Bar meals were good, although a little expensive, and breakfast was also good. Breakfast hours are very limited - but that is understandable for a hotel with just 8 rooms.
