The Starhotels Splendid Venice is located in the heart of Venice, quite close to Piazza San Marco and to Ponte di Rialto. It can be reached by gondola, mooring on to the private pier and from it you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the historical center of Venice, dominated by the famous bell tower of San Marco. The interior decorations, among which are the great cut-glass mirrors, recall the formal elements of the Venetian architecture. The velvet and silk fabrics, with tones from pearl grey to light violet, complete this atmosphere of delicate elegance.
The Campiello Lounge, a typical Venetian courtyard, is in the middle of the hotel, connected to the bar and the restaurant. Bathed in natural light and, in winter, heated by a large fireplace, its style is the quintessence of unaffected elegance. It has a retractable glass roof and can thus be used all year round.
Giving onto the Campiello Lounge, the bar welcomes our guests into a stylish, intimate atmosphere. The lacquered furniture introduces eclectic elements of black and gold into the color scheme, warmly set off by the dark pink of the lampshades.
“Le Maschere”, the hotel’s restaurant, is a charming and modern environment that offers you a breathtaking view of the canal while savoring your meal. It features experienced staff, a high quality of cooking and an elegant décor. In a perfect amalgamation of ambience and gastronomy, typical Venetian cuisine is artfully combined with traditional dishes.

The hotel was difficult to find. In addition the building works taking place there meant that there wasn't a bar in the hotel. THe staff were, however, quite helpful in recommending restauants etc. I also felt that the photo on the website was flattering as the hotel fronts onto a minor canal but our window looked onto a grim wall. Overall, quite expensive bearing in mind what we got.

Only had the breakfast which was good. During our stay the hotel was undergoing a refit, noisy and dusty. But the staff tried to overcome all.
