There was the usual problem for single travellers about the size of the room; single en suite rooms in older hotels are often very small, having squeezed the facilities into an existing room, and this was no exception. However, the staff were very friendly and efficient, the food at dinner good, breakfast less so (why do so many otherwise good kithens produce rubber scrambled eggs?) and it was a perfectly acceptable stay. |

Good value hotel (paid £65 for single room on Laterooms and then got upgraded to Double) - no view but was fine as business trip and pool is very nice. |

I have only said that I would not stay here again because we would need to book a weekend. To explain: On Friday & Saturday there were weddings booked and whilst I appreciate that hotels need to make maximum use of their facilities we found that the large groups of smokers gathered around the front door from mid afternoon until late evening very off putting. It also meant we struggled to park in what is otherwise an adequate car park. Perhaps the hotel should consider moving the smoking area to the (whilst we were there) under utilised terrace to the rear of the function suite. Despite this gripe we found the staff especially polite, helpful and smartly presented. We also could not fault the breakfasts which were consistently of a very high standard. |
