Riverside Hotel

Friendly Hosts, easy access to York. Some lovely views and walks. Kiddy friendly pub next door.

The welcome we received on arrival (hotel easy to find) was very warm and helpful with recommendations on where to eat. We were gleefully told we had the "room with a river view" at the rear, which was an over-statement. The room in fact overlooked the hotel and neighbours' back yards and the river was not visible due to the vegetation growth! We were glad, however, that the room was at the rear as the Old Square at the front is very noisy in the evenings. There was a noisy party, however, that night to the rear of the hotel, probably emanating from the pub next-door-but-one and gone midnight we had to ask them to keep the noise down, to which abuse followed! We reported it to the owners the next morning, who said it was a one-off and they'd mention it at the pub.
The room, bathroom and shower room were very clean, but not en-suite, which is why we wouldn't stay there again. There was a toilet immediately next door, but this was noisy when flushed during the night. TV very "snowy" on almost every station. Bed extremely comfortable with enough pillows for a change!
Full English breakfast was fine.
