Excellent B&B in a great area, especially if you enjoy walking. Lots of guide books available. The breakfasts were the best I have ever had. A very good range of fresh fruit and yogurts, and the eggs, bacon, sausage etc were very well cooked - not fatty at all. |

It was booked as a surprise for me from my husband, everything was wonderful. The setting, countryside views from all windows, we had Applethwaithe room and it was stunning a very romantic ambience with over king size bed and leather settee with ample clothing storage and extra bedding if needed (we didn't need it the whole accommodation is centrally heated) I cannot put into words how the whole experience was as it was much better than we could have wanted. The breakfast was beautiful with fresh meat supplied by a local butcher, large choice of breakfast cereals but a beautiful selection of fresh chopped fruits and plentyof yoghurt to go around. I am 5 months pregnant and the travelling up to the Lake District from South Wales was a bit of a nightmare but it was well worth it when we got there, I was made to feel extremely comfortable straight away and i would have been happy to stay in our room for the whole weekend, the weather was'nt the best but it hasn't put us off. The proprietors were great telling us the best places to go, and offered umbrellas and torches as there aren't any street lighting. It was the best weekend I have ever experienced and I will definitely return but for longer next time and we would reccommend it to anyone. Mrs Rachel Holl |

High Fold was a very clean and attractively decorated Guest House. The views were breathtaking too. Applethwaite was a superb room, nice touch that it also had a DVD player. A good choice of fruit, cereals and yogurts at Breakfast time as well as cooked breakfasts. We would recommend it to anyone. |
