This is a recently refurbished hotel fronting the main road to Pickering. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. There is a large car park, but traffic noise can be intrusive. The restaurant has a limited, but good range of meals at reasonable prices, and seems to cater for local people as well as hotel guests. The bus service to Malton and Pickering is hourly. However, my single room was very compact, with a small single bed and no air conditioning, and would not be worth the £79 per night normally charged (although it was reasonable value at LateRooms £49). Breakfast is an extra £10 and internet access is also extra. |

Initial reaction was that the room looked good. However, once we were inside we noticed the damp patches around the external walls. In the bathroom mould was on the window and in some crevices. The standard of cleanliness around the floor and window was poor. The room was also very noisy as it was next to creaky stairs. |

The lady on reception was the loveliest bubbliest person and nothing was too much trouble. Newspaper was outside the door when we woke and we both slept like logs. The only negative was probably the £10 charge for breakfast which was the same whether you were having the full english or just porridge. |
