Lovely hotel in a fantastic building, staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and make you appreciate staying in smaller hotels again. Decor is traditional in keeping with the house, if you want urban chic then try the sister hotel across the road. Rooms were clean with excellent finishings such as the linen, roomy and temperature was right. Food Menu looks excellent although we ate out, and breakfast was very good, with the service again outstanding. Very handy for central Edinburgh, Old or New Town, around £5 in a cab from each, or there is a bus service right outside. Will be back. |

The room we stayed in was very noisy as it was on the ground floor next to the main entrance |

The hotel was great and the staff very helpful. HOWEVER, it was the day of a rugby national (to be played in the evening). I arrived at lunch time. I was told that lunch / evening meal were served in the sister hotel across the road. I went over the road and asked whether i could get a meal or a bar snack. Unfortunately I was told that I was unable to be provided with a meal, not even a bar snack, even though I was a resident. This was 1pm and nobody was in the restaurant eating, only a few people were in the bar. A sad way to treat your customers. |

This hotel offers a great platform to visit Edinburgh, being only a short taxi ride to the heart of the city. The rooms are fresh, well decorated and most importantly - clean. |

Our group had one room in the City hotel and one in the sister hotel on the other side of the road. The city hotel had great modern styled room whilst the sister hotel was more traditional but equally good rooms. Breakfast in both was good. The City hotel has no evening catering but we ate one night in the bar in the sister hotel and that was good. Excellent location for the city centre, parking available at the hotel and a long walk - or much better - take the frequent buses that go from right outside the hotel. |
