Solberge Hall Hotel

Newby Wiske, Northallerton

Solberge Hall Hotel and Restaurant lies in the midst of the glorious Yorkshire countryside just a few miles from the market towns of Northallerton and Thirsk. It stands proudly at the end of its own sweeping drive way in nine acres of Award Winning gardens and woodland (Yorkshire In Bloom Silver Award Winners 2007) and commands stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Whether enjoying a weekend break, dining in one of the restaurants, attending a conference or wedding, guests will receive a warm welcome from the friendly and professional team. Once a Georgian country house, the hall has been tastefully modernised into a luxury country house hotel. Located ten minutes from the A1 motorway, the A19, the mainline railway from London to Edinburgh and just thirty minutes drive from Durham Tees Valley Airport. A few minutes drive from the hotel and you’ll find yourself in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the beautiful, picturesque Yorkshire Dales and just half and hours drive from Solberge Hall, you have the historic City of York and all its attractions. Each of our 24 spacious ensuite bedrooms ranging from four poster rooms to singles have been individually designed and most enjoy stunning views of the hotel grounds or the surrounding countryside. Ground floor rooms available, subject to availability. Please note all guests bedrooms are non smoking. We offer many choices of dining from relaxing in the hotel bar and lounge where you can choose from our bar and afternoon tea menu, to a more elaborate meal in our fine dining restaurant, The Garden Room, with seasonal cooking and attentive yet unobtrusive staff. The hotel is very well located being a large country manor house, with great views and grounds. However the hotel inside was dated and tired with threadbare carpets, saggy wallpaper and creaky floorboards. During my stay in my room the heating wasnt working properly and all my room lights went out whilst I was in the shower. The food I had was very good however and I can recommend eating there

Booked the hotel as we were looking for a base to tour North Yorkshire. We stayed in a standard room which was large, bright and tastefully furnished. We had a very god DBB rate and ate in the hotel. The food was first rate and the staff helpful and attentive. Overall the standard of accommodation and food was equal to what we got it luxury country house hotels at twice the price. It is a shame that it is not a little nearer but we will return in the future.

Everything good, but as I've said before the breakfast prices are too high for the small portions offerred if you just ask for, say, bacon, egg and mushrooms. Perhaps I should have the full breakfast, which might be better vfalue

Very friendly welcome. Location very pleasant. Quality of room a little dated but clean. The restuarant was very nice and the food and service excellent. Thought the room price a little steep for the quality of the room.
Found the lack of any internet connection frustrating and slightly surprising in this day and age.
