Hallgarth Manor hotel is a traditional English Country House hotel with 23 bedrooms, situated just 3 miles from the historic city of Durham.This former 16th century residential estate,set in spectacular grounds and gardens, has been discreetly modernised to retain many of its original features.The hotel is noted for the excellence of its food served in the Elemore restaurant. Also serving bar meals in the Cocktail Bar, which overlooks the gardens. A good selection of traditional ales are served in our Tavern Bar. Sunday lunch carvery served in our Cathedral Suite. Golfing days at a nearby Hotel can be arranged on request. Free wireless Internet is available throughout the entire hotel.

This hotel is tired. Bedroom in attic and badly laid out. Not value for money

We didn't get the twin we booked (it's on reg form) but a double. and with no expalanation/apology. The room was OK but the bathroom wastebin hadn't been emptied and there were cobwebs in every corner! The glass bedside table hadn't ben cleaned, had blobs of food or something on it. (subsequently removed/cleaned by me)
However, the service was very friendly esp at breakfast. Food was very good. Would go again.
