The only 5 star rated guest house in Bowness on Windermere with exceptional views over Lake Windermere and the fells.Each room is individually designed and decorated to the highest standard. All the rooms are en-suite and most of them have stunning views of the lake and mountains. They all have a TV, CD player, video or DVD (free video library), tea/coffee making and ironing facilities. Whilst you stay with us you have use of leisure facilities with a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, and gymnasium.You can relax in our lounge and enjoy a drink or two overlooking Lake Windermere while you plan your activity for the days ahead. Where do I start? 5 star - More like 2 star Bed & Breakfast Positives: Clean First day the breakfast was good Good location Negatives: up the road are the leisure facilities are (shared) Pool was small. 3 machines in gym (running / cycle / rower) - nothing in there! Stayed two nights and on the Saturday 3 cars got broke into in their car park. Cheap tv with 4 channels/plastic radio. The room was on the top floor which was on a slope so you felt sea sick as if you where on a boat. All in all extremely dissapointed!!! This is not a hotel and I could have paid half the price at a 2* B & B having an overall better quality. I would strongly advise you take these comments on board. It was supposed to be a romantic 5* break.

The hotel is in an ideal location for all of the local bars and restuarants, and the lake as well. The double room we had, although compact, was very clean and comfortable, with a good view of the lake. There was a good choice of breakfasts available and everything we had was very good. We would definitely return in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oakbank House to anyone thinking of visiting the lakes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oakbank House, the room was impeccable with a beautiful view and the bed was as comfortable as being at home. The location was great for all the local amenities and attractions of Bowness and we would definately stay there again. Congratulations to the owners who we feel have created a wonderful and friendly place to stay!
