Waterside Hotel

The hotel wa easy to find and the parking was fine. Outside of the hotel looked a little tired but was ver clean and tidy inside. There was obviously a need for an update to the decor but this did not spoil the clean and welcoming feeling of the public rooms and is reflected in the price. My room was first class for a single travellor and the bathroom seemed to have been updated with a large bath and power shower. It was spotless and sparkling. Room service was very efficient and the food was well cooked and hot. The dining room was clean and welcoming and the breakfast good value.
The gardens are wonderful on a summers night sitting by the lake with a beer in hand.
Despite the poor ratings on the net I enjoyed my stay was very satisfied with the accomodation and the friendliness of all the staff. I would like to stay there again in the future

The hotel was easy to find. It's location is the best selling point. The grounds of the hotel stretch down to Lake Grassmere. Unfortunately it was wet and a bit cool when we stayed.
The staff were thin on the ground and the rooms were not easy to find (bit of a rabbit warren). Also the furnishings had seen better days. We only ate breakfast there which was perfectly acceptable and I enjoyed the bacon and eggs. No view from the room!

The cosy room - 219 - was excellent for a single person - heart of May, Grasmere, part Lake view, double bed, only sixty pounds a night. Breakfast very good, only gripe that the popular foods (bacon and hash browns would run out in minutes and take too long for the next batch). Room service was prompt too- a midnight feast promptly delivered.
