Quiet retreat and good base to explore Cornwall. Food was excellent with a very varied menu.
Resident peacocks were an added attraction and the grounds were lovely to walk in. We particularly enjoyed
the woodland walk to the trout lake.
Well done Jane and Mick. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

I dont have a single good word for this hotel, it was awful. Bed springs poking through the mattress cutting my skin, I hit my head on the low slopping ceilings, the food was awful, the game pie i had for dinner was hardly digestable. Without a doubt the worst place I have ever stayed.

This accomodation was fine for one night, but the cottages are in need of refurbishment and smell stale.
The service from the restaurant staff was dissapointing - they didn't know anything about the meals on the menu and lacked personality. The food was OK.
The location was lovely - peacocks wondering around everywhere.

Despite a confirmation of booking the best room we found, on arrival, that the room had been given to other clients. We were offered a choice of alternative room and a price reduction. Towels were not changed during our 2 night stay. In the restaurant the "specials" did not change each night and were not very special. Breakfast was OK with good choice of cooked options and preserves. The ambience of the hotel was spoilt by a large flock of noisy peacocks which roosted on the roof and called loudly at dawn. They were also allowed to foul the patio tables, making the outside area unpleasant and unusable. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience.
