Lots of plusses but some minuses too. Plusses were great landlord & landlady, extremely friendly and helpful, lovely food, loved the king size bed and hot chocolate in the rooms. Minuses were the bathroom in room 10 could desperately do with an overhaul, lemon yellow fixtures aren't exactly up to date and the bath could do with a BIG scrub out. Also the shower was pretty dismal. Also the room smelt of cigarette smoke all night and the next morning even though it is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. The smell of smoke was as strong in the bathroom the next morning so we think it might have been coming in from a vent in the ceiling. However, another plus is that they upgraded us to an en-suite room from a room with a bathroom opposite, for which we are very grateful. |

I didnt think much of the microwaved haggis starter that I had, or the manufactured ice cream sundae for dessert but the steak pie was good. |

Very friendly and efficient staff. Funny folk singer on Saturday night. Good atmosphere. Gets busy in bar area. Food spot on apart from breakfast: sausages not very good quality, eggs non-descript - but I am used to my own free range eggs... Good value and definitely worth a stop over. |
