We had some difficulty finding the Hotel, as the postcode led us to another location with the Sat Nav. Arriving - the entrance to the hotel was promising. On reaching the hotel the building was very dissappointing. We were met by a receptionist who said yes can I help you. When we said we were guests arriving we got a Welcome to the hotel. The hotel is rather isolated so I am not sure who she thought we might be. Our room was located outside of the hotel itself, fortunately we had waterproof clothing as it was raining hard during our stay. We had one evening meal in the hotel, the food was very good, but the service was disappointing. On being taken to our table and given menus, we were left sitting for a long time. There were only four other tables at the time occupied. When the waiter came and took our order, he took our food order, we had to ask if we could order drinks. When one of the waiters brought our bottle of water, he said here you go then and put the unopened bottle of water on the table. Fortunately the wine was served in the proper manner. We were not offered any bread, and whilst eating our main course, my husband asked for some bread, the waiter said you want another roll, my husband said we would just like some bread as we have not had any. The staff were all pleasant and friendly, but it seemed they completely lacked any form of training. The quality of food was the only saving grace in our opinion. Having spent many years staying in hotels both in this country and abroad, We would not recommend this hotel as value for money. I would go as far as to say that it is one of the worst run hotels we have stayed in. |

The view & location of this hotel is amazing, the hotel however is a little tired. This could be overlooked if the facilties excelled but they did not, the TV & CD player in our room did not work, the tap dripped and the Garden Lodge needs modernising. Breakfast was ok but service slow. The satff tried very hard and were very pleasant and courteous but this could not make up for the failings of the hotel. The pool was not open to children before 1.00pm and the restaurants do not accept children under 12 - only the bistro accepted children - again service was slow here. Not very family friendly and not very good value for money. |
