This is the second time that I have stayed at the Quay Hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful and, overall, the hotel is excellent. That having been said, the service in the restaurant leaves something to be desired and whilst the food itself is generally good, it is not good value for money; a plain steak for example costing between £20-£25 depending upon the cut. I have paid a lot less than that in many better restaurants where the quality and service have been vastly superior. Therefore, my advice would be stay in the hotel, but eat at a local restaurant. |

he staff that we encountered seemsd to lack training. The receptionist on arrivla was making a private telephone call and we were left waiting around until she had finished. The waitress in the dining room at breakfast time did not give us any information we had to ask where to obtain toast, tea, coffee etc. All she asked was our room number. The variety of food on th buffet breakfast was inconsistent during our 2 day stay. The hotel is accessed by crossing a level railway crossing off the main road. There are traffic lights and on the morning of departure there were stuck on red and apparently had been since the previous evening. I don't know whose responsibility this is but it is something to bear in mind particularly if you are in a hurry. |
