We booked a double room for two people including breakfast. The room we had was tiny, filthy, smelly (The room was obviously damp and musty), with very old fashioned, poor quality and damaged furntiture. The bathroom was disgusting and seemed virtually untouched since it was installed many decades ago. The rooom was so small that the 4' 6" bed had to be pushed up against one wall. We wanted extra pillows and towels as there were only enough for one person (we should have worked out at that stage the room was only afor single occupancy). I called reception and they told me that they would look for these items but if they couldn't find them they would let us have them in the morning! What use was that. As it was now past midnight I was too tired to argue abot the condition of the room although the towels and pillows did finally turn up.
On going to breakfast we were told that, despite booking a double room for two on the late rooms website, we were only entitled to one breakfast as the price paid for a 'double room for two people' was only considered by Norfolk House to entitle us to a single room for one!
We had to argue quite vehemently with reception on this point. They looked up their documentation and I pointed out on their paperwork that the room booked was a double room. They said that, as we had paid 'such a low rate', despite what the documentation from Late Rooms, said, we were only entitled to a single. We did finally get two breakfasts but obviously stayed, unbeknown to us, in a single room.
There were a number of overseas tourists in the hotel. As a UK resident I was extremely embarrassed that this hotel would be seen as an example of what we can provide in this country. These type of hotels should be more closely inspected and personally I would condemn this hotel. Don't waste your money on this hotel even if it is a low rate. We wouldn't touch this hotel again with a barge pole!!

The hotel was very easy to find, being on a main road and opposite a hospital. The outside was impressive and welcoming. The guy on reception was very polite when allocating our room. The room was fine - albeit a couple of wires hanging out of a socket and a dodgy TV aerial, but overall was very clean and adequate for our needs. At £42 for a family of four - including full English and continental breakfast - and just 12 miles outside central London, you could not fault the value for money. It's not The Ritz - but hey, you are not paying Ritz prices!!!

I was at a meeting at Mayday Hospital. Hotel is directly across the road. Could not be more convenient. Hotel is a bit worn out but room OK, warm, spotless linen, bathroom basic but OK and adequate shower. Traffic noise when window open - but this is London!. Staff helpful. Non-cooked breakfast items basic, I'd have prefered whole meal bread and some fresh fruit. Cooked food was available and looked OK. Overall very good value for this part of UK, 40:00 booked on-line. Thank you, Norfolk House!
