Glen Mhor Hotel

9-15 Ness Bank, Inverness

The Glen Mhor hotel rests on the banks of the river Ness near the Castle, enjoying picturesque views of Inverness Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre.
The main hotel restaurant - Nico's Grill & Seafood restaurant is well known locally for superb seafood dishes, with prime scotch beef a specialty.
The main city centre shopping areas, including the main railway station, are just a few minutes walk away.
The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area on foot or by car. Take a walk around the scenic Ness Islands (just a stroll along the river bank). The city centre of Inverness is just five minutes walk away. If you want to explore by car, take a trip down to Loch Ness or travel out to the Black Isle. There are whisky distilleries nearby in Glen Ord and Tomatin to name but two.
Culloden battlefield, Fort George and the Clava Cairns offer points of interest for History buffs, whilst more up to date culture can be experienced in many of the clubs, bars and music venues in Inverness itself.

The setting of this hotel is everything. 5 minutes walk from the town along the beautiful river Ness with views across the river. The hotel is quite dated but is clean and the staff we dealt with were 1st class. Despite being on a B&B basis we missed breakfast (due to an excess in small libations the previous evening!) but I gather from other guests that it was excellent. The bar is extremely cosy with those wonderfully overstuffed armchairs and sofas that encourage binge dozing rather than binge drinking. All in all if you are willing to forgive little annoying things (for instance only 5 tv channels and poor quality tv reception or a not so power shower) which in this modern age I believe should be standard in all hotels, this is an extremely good value for money destination. I would definitely stay here again.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the room. There was a smell of damp in the room because the en suite was damp. The decor was very tired and the carpet was grubby. There was a poor reception on the the tv.
I initially phoned the hotel directly to inquire about a booking and was quoted £89 B&B.Through Laterooms I was quoted £65 B&B for a single room.I cant believe they were going to charge £89 for that standard of room.I stay mostly in 4 star hotels and they don't even charge that amount.I didnt even go to the restaurant because the room was so poor. This was my first experience of staying in Inverness.Very poor!

We arrived on the Saturday 1 hour earlier than expected, the receptionist ,left her desk to go and find if our room was ready, she came back and told us our room was ready and we could check in.very helpful.
We walked into the room and i thought we were in a time warp the decor was 1980's,the furniture the same and the portable tv was on a plinth(to make it look bigger?) inside a large tv cabinet, the walpaper on the ceiling must have been done by Stevie Wonder it was anything but straight.Breakfast cannot be faulted,it was hot and service was good.
The wc/shower room was clean and tidy only concern was the sloping floor??and had to ask for clean towels and shower gel as the towels we used on Saturday were still lying in shower on sunday afternoon and we had used up the shower gel.

There is a lot about the Glen Mhor that is good, but for me it was flawed by two interrelated reasons. First is that the Internet was down at the time of my stay, had been down for several days, and no one knew when 'the engineer would come to install new software.' Secondly, the front-of-house staff obviously treated this as something that was not their concern. I can't imagine them taking the same view if it had been their phone system, but they gave the impression that the lack of internet was a problem for the guests, not for them. And this attitude seemed to spill over into customer service generally: this is the way we are; take it or leave it. I may be a little unfair here, but I had a 2-night stay, and I would try somewhere else in Inverness next time.
