The setting of this hotel is everything. 5 minutes walk from the town along the beautiful river Ness with views across the river. The hotel is quite dated but is clean and the staff we dealt with were 1st class. Despite being on a B&B basis we missed breakfast (due to an excess in small libations the previous evening!) but I gather from other guests that it was excellent. The bar is extremely cosy with those wonderfully overstuffed armchairs and sofas that encourage binge dozing rather than binge drinking. All in all if you are willing to forgive little annoying things (for instance only 5 tv channels and poor quality tv reception or a not so power shower) which in this modern age I believe should be standard in all hotels, this is an extremely good value for money destination. I would definitely stay here again. |

There is a lot about the Glen Mhor that is good, but for me it was flawed by two interrelated reasons. First is that the Internet was down at the time of my stay, had been down for several days, and no one knew when 'the engineer would come to install new software.' Secondly, the front-of-house staff obviously treated this as something that was not their concern. I can't imagine them taking the same view if it had been their phone system, but they gave the impression that the lack of internet was a problem for the guests, not for them. And this attitude seemed to spill over into customer service generally: this is the way we are; take it or leave it. I may be a little unfair here, but I had a 2-night stay, and I would try somewhere else in Inverness next time. |
