A good hotel which is very easily accessible off the A1 on the high street of a reasonably quiet and attractive village. We had a very comfortable, well appointed and clean room. However the receptionist who lead us to our room required us to carry our own (heavy) luggage. We followed the receptionist to our room which previously unbeknown to us was one of only 2 rooms at the top/2nd floor of the building to which there was no lift - steep and rather narrow stairs between the 1st and 2nd floors. This experience marred what would have been an extrememly pleasant stay. Therefore in the future I would pre-arrange a room on the 1st floor (where the lift stops) - or insist on help with luggage from the outset. Room service was good with newspapers and morning tea/coffee brought to our room. The restaurant and bar had very pleasant atmospheres and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The menu was quite extensive and the food was excellent. |
