The Craigtay Hotel

101 Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee

Welcome to a family run Dundee hotel with a warm welcome, where you're accepted as part of the family from the day you arrive. Renowned by golfers and business travellers in particular for its warm and friendly atmosphere, where the staff have a ?can do? attitude and where unlike a big city chain hotel you are welcomed as part of the family and not treated as a number.

Hotel was easy to find. Room was clean and tidy.
A bit nosiy at night (partly due to wooden stairs and creaky floor boards) and people talking.
Breakfast was good when served, however service lesft a lot to be desired.

We've been to the Craigtay Hotel 3 times over the past two years and we would highly recommend it if you are looking for a decent place to go for a weekend. The hotel has a lovely bar and dining room and although the rooms are perhaps a little tired and in need of updating, they are immaculately clean and well looked after. Bedlinen and towels are fresh and the ensuite shower room is immaculate. The breakfast is lovely with a great 'help yourself' choice of cereals and fruit juices. You get a lovely British breakfast ie. bacon, eggs, sausage, blackpudding and mushroom with toast and tea/or coffee. You can even order smoked haddock and poached egg if you like that sort of start to the day, and of course porridge. The staff are lovely and helpful. The parking area is safe and there is plenty of room. Walking into Dundee takes about 20 mins and it is a fairly nice stroll downhill. There are regular buses that stop outside the door and the timetable is clearly displayed on the bus stop post. Taxis are easy to hail down on the way into town and there are plenty of taxi ranks if you are travelling back to the hotel late at night. We only paid £60 for a double room with breakfast - that's £30 each, booked through LateRooms.com. If you compare that to other hotels in Dundee, that's a good deal. We will certainly be going for a 4th time, again with LateRooms.com.

basically this hotel offers good value for the price, but the room we had had very thin walls and unfortunately we had 2 noisy females next door who shouted rather than spoke to each other and also the view from the window of large storage tanks was a bit of a let down. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent. all in all it is pretty good value for a short stay in the area.
