HOTEL CLERY

RUE DU CHATEAU, HESDIN L'ABBE

Set among the woodlands 10km from Boulogne sur Mer, its beach, old town centre, shopping and fishing port in Hesdin l’Abbé, stands Hôtel Cléry. The romantic 18th century architecture of the magnificent bourgeois manor house is nestled in a beautiful 5 hectare park. The peaceful ambiance of the Hôtel Cléry is reflected in each of the bedrooms, whether in the château, the cottages or the farm-house. Every detail of the decoration and the unique personality of each room captures the harmony of the setting. In the kitchen the refined yet simple cuisine enchants the senses with its authentic flavours…the sensation of being “at home” will pervade you. Spend a moment in front of the fire or in the comfortable bar. Immerse yourself in the gentle way of life with the romantic park, and newly equipped gym. Venture into the Boulonnais where the old town of Boulogne and its surprising panoramas of countryside perched on the sea will only reinforce your feeling of well-being. In the nearby area: the forest of Boulogne, Nausicaa – the aquarium, Hardelot and Le Touquet – beaches, sports facilities and town centers, magnificent golf courses including the AA Golf de St Omer.

Hotel was charming; staff very agreeable and helpful. Lovely restaurant - we ate in the conservatory - and excellent food, but very expensive. A pleasant walk in the grounds, with a fishpond and lots of peacocks! I marked the room down a point as the bedroom was a little on the small side. We were in Les Cottages, a converted stable block. Nicely decorated room and a good bathroom with wonderful thermostatic taps but just slightly too narrow.

Hotel, Grounds and Staff were all marvelous. To have a drink or meal there is very expensive. We went to the Bistro down the road (Turn left as you come out of the gates and go down to the traffic lights) and had a 3 course meal with drinks, coffee & liquers for a little bit more than a meal for one would cost at the hotel. Breakfast is 16 Euros per person so we went into town and had coffee & Croissants on the beach.
