The hotel looke nice fron outside and the entrance and reception area with its sweeping stairs was impressive. However the rest of the hotel was a bit tired looking. The room had a small tv which had an indoor aerial perched on top plus an aerial lead from the back of the set into a wall socket. i could only get a few channels and some of those were fuzzy, and the sky news channel cropped up 3 times! The bathroom was ok although the standard dark stains in the toilet bowl and around rhe bath ( on the sealant ) were there. |

Good hotel, with a few improvements it could be great. Standard rooms basic, would upgrade to superior if we went again. Food good. Great location. |

The biggest problem was the hotel giving better service to those attending functions than paying guests. We had been warned that a wedding on the Saturday night of our 2 night stay meant we could not eat there, so as we were travelling a long way to meet friends travelling from the other end of the country on Friday, we looked forward to a meal at the hotel. No chance, a Xmas party took over the dining room, bar and reception areas. The wedding party did the same the following night. We had to sit in the breakfast room to have a drink at 10.30pm. Felt like intruders at someone elses party! Staff helpful but taxis were expensive as the hotel is a few miles from the nearest pubs and restaurants. Room clean but a bit worn-looking, and up in the attic, almost. |
