The initial welcome from reception staff and further help with the WiFi connection was very good. I was given a lovely large old room with beams etc., its a pity it had not been vacuumed after the previous guests, there was both 'stars & party glitter' on the carpet & cushions. Not all the light bulbs worked, despite asking for these to be replaced , they weren't.! The bathroom was functional, [ everything worked'] but was nothing special the space hadn't been used well, ie., large space, with small basin & over shower bath. But the breakfast experience was the worst part. I had requested an early b'fast, planning to leave @ 7 p.m., with b'fast @ 6.30.On going down to reception and being told to go through to the restaurant, it was very dark & nothing was ready, no staff available. The receptionist came through to check & was in disbelief. He went to we presume call staff, who eventually came down. Caroline the server was very rude & decided it was her place to lecture us on Hotel policy. Time was ticking by & still no coffee. Time to look at the surroundings, all very full of cobwebs & insects, a good clean is required.Coffee at last & stale croissants later...we left, with memories of a pleasant stay marred by unpleasant surly breakfast service! |

Really beautiful setting - was lovely to sit out on the river bank with a glass of wine. The room was great (room 10) - big, great view, huge bed, nice bathroom. We had to wait a little to be seated for breakfast, but it was good. Wine was expensive in the bar! |

We found the hotel exceptional value for money. All the staff were efficient and professional. As a chef I was impressed with all meals we had in the restaurant and the way we were served. We shall definitely be returning to a Legacy hotel and maybe this one. Thank you. |

The hotel was very nice and our room was gorgeous and very comfortable with lovely views over garden and river. We were greeted warmly on arrival by the receptionist. Unfortunately, in the lovely ensuite bathroom the cold water in the shower and sink were not working but after speaking with the Duty Manager they were very helpful and offered cold water on the call to reception or alternative shower room if needed. We took water to our room after dinner but luckily by the next morning for our shower it was ok. Unfortunately. we were not aware that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings. That was a disappointment as we were looking forward to a special meal. (The restaurant looks great) The food in the Avon bar was good old fish and chips as both my husband and I don't eat meat. It was good but not al a carte. However, on the whole I would recommend this hotel because after their refurbishment it is top hotel with a beautiful river setting and I would definately recommend it and I would certainly stay again. Manay thanks. |
